Look at the following list of classic TV lines. How many do you recognize? Can you name the shows?
- “Say goodnight, Gracie.”
- “Lucy, you’ve got a lot of ‘splainin’ to do!”
- “To the moon, Alice!”
- “Nanu, Nanu.”
- “De plane! De plane!”
- “Book ‘em, Danno.”
TV has changed a lot since the days of the Ed Sullivan Show (on CBS from 1948 to 1971) and Walter Cronkite (anchorman of CBS evening news from 1962 to 1981). But when we look back on the Golden Age of Television, many of the shows bring back beautiful, lasting, nostalgic memories. And you can’t argue that there were some great one-liners!
Flooring has come a long way too since the 1940’s, 50’s, 60’s and beyond. Many of the changes in the flooring industry have to do with the trends and styles. And although flooring from the 60’s is considered ‘retro’ and once again popular with many, the make-up of the flooring materials has come a long way as well.
Many of these changes have to do with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and their regulation of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) since the 1980’s. While there are many natural and safe VOC’s, there is another entire group of VOCs that aren’t so friendly. Substances like Formaldehyde (which evaporates from paint) and other anthropogenic VOCs cause pollution when released into the environment and can be hazardous to humans and animals when they’re found indoors. EPA regulations concerning these VOCs have caused the flooring industry to change the way flooring is both manufactured and installed.
The good news is, VOC free flooring has come a LONG way! Today, when you purchase flooring through Xtreme Engineered Floor Systems, you don’t ever have to worry about dangerous or hazardous VOCs in your flooring. All of our flooring products are 100% VOC free flooring. Also, they are color-stable when exposed to UV light and chemical resistant.
