A small, unnoticed electrical interference can be detrimental to sensitive electronic components. Electronics manufacturing is not the only industry concerned about accidental electrostatic discharge. Businesses and industries reliant on technology can be vulnerable to the adverse effects of ESD.
Xtreme Engineered Floor Systems offers the latest in ESD flooring solutions. We work with a variety of manufacturers that provide us with systems that meet the industry’s standard of excellence.
ESD/Conductive Flooring is used in many industries, including electronics, military facilities, solvent manufacturing facilities, and pharmaceutical facilities. These industries need ESD flooring to help control electrostatic discharge, so each piece of vital equipment remains unharmed, and thus the employees can also remain unharmed.
There are two different types of ESD Floor Coatings – Conductive and Dissipative. Each works differently to control electrostatic discharge. A conductive ESD floor coating contains electrically conductive carbon and graphite particles within the coating. These allow electrical currents to travel through the flooring in a controlled fashion.
A dissipative ESD flooring has anti-static properties. This means that under specific circumstances, electrostatic charges do not build up in the flooring. It is important to note, however, that if the conditions change, the dissipative properties of the flooring will change as well.
